REGISTER NOW FOR SUMMER 2025 PROGRAMS
We are launched in 2021 with a series of learn-to-row events in order to build awareness and relationships in the community. In 2022 and 2023, we focused on building a youth rowing program for middle and high school students. In 2024, we began offering some adult rowing classes. This deliberate approach allowed us to focus on creating a positive, inclusive culture of excellence. We will work to continue building out our offerings over the next few years. Please see below for more details or email us with questions.
During the summer, we offer intorduction to rowing sessions for adults and youth enetering 8-12th grades. Each camp is 4 sessions each and registration is available on the Parks Tacoma (formerly MetroParks) website. All programs held at 2110 East D St, Tacoma.
We also offer an advanced summer program for experinced youth athletes.
If you are a collegiate rower who will be in Tacoma over the summer and want to row and/or coach, please contact us.
Do you work with youth?
Are you involved with a community group that might want to learn more about rowing?
We can bring rowing machines to schools, community events, church, etc. We can do a quick 30minute program or set up a tent for a day and talk to people.
Contact us to discuss options and help us create an inclusive community rowing program.
See our News page for a list of upcoming community events and follow us on Instagram @tacomarowing for updates.
We want to empower youth with access, knowledge and opportunity.
C.R.E.W. is a free program for Tacoma's high school youth.
Did you know that you do NOT need to row in high school in order to row competitively in college?
In 5 sessions, we teach participants the basics of the sport on land and on the water. We also discuss collegiate rowing opportunities at the Division 1, 2 and 3 levels.
We run these for groups of 8-10 students from the same high school. We also have some 1-on-1 spots available as well.
C.R.E.W. is designed to be fun, informative. There is no commitment beyond the 5 sessions. If you don’t want to row more, no worries. You will walk away with fun memories and learn some practical cross training movements to make you stronger in your current sport.
To inquire about private classes, please contact us.
We recognize the important work BIPoC entrepreneurs do in our community. We also know that you work long hours, including weekends. Join us on Monday mornings for fun, community and learning.

What's in it for you?
Learn to row on the water and/or refine your rowing machine coaching technique.
Take this as far as you want. If you want to row regularly, great. If not, that is fine.
Help shape our programming and offerings.
What's in it for us?
We want to build connections in the community.
We want to increase the awareness and understanding of rowing within our community.
We want to increase the number of fitness-minded individuals who can coach rowing.
How it works:
Email to let us know you are interested and tell us about your background and career goals.
We will work together to determine a mutually beneficial plan.
This program is free, but capacity is limited.
What's with the name?
Early in the drive phase on the rowing stroke, when the blade is in the water, the oar bends as force is applied.
Deliberate application of energy results in changes- in this case, force moves the boat.
We want to bend the arc of this sport. We are making deliberate efforts to:
Increase awareness or and access to the sport
Create pathways for new coaches
